Permanent Eyebrows

Lauren is certified in several different cosmetic tattoo techniques, including but not limited to: microblading, powder-fill, nano-brows, combination brows, microshading, nano-stroked brows, ombre-brows, feathering, etching, and pointillism. With these specific credentials, Lauren is able to choose the right technique for each individual skin type. Her favorite combination is microblading and powder-fill, creating the appearance of a natural looking brow line, extra hair strokes, and a brow which is beautifully penciled in.

If you desire fuller, more arched brows, and/or you pencil your eyebrows in every day, permanent eyebrow makeup will save you so much time and energy! You can work, swim, shower, workout, etc. without fear of loosing your eyebrows! Alopecia sufferers for the first time can say they have eyebrows! Overly plucked, lack of arches, cancer patients, grey-browed clients can have the brows they have always desired! And, they will not run or wipe off… Brilliant!  Although “permanent,” color-boosts are necessary every 8 months-1 year to keep color appearing fresh.

Two Visits With Eyebrow Procedures Are Crucial To Achieving Your Desired Results…

These visits must be scheduled 4-6 weeks apart. Healing takes place during the interim. Upfront price of $625.00 includes both sessions. While two sessions are included in the original price, additional sessions may be needed for optimum results. Usually, a third session is $95.00. However, these sessions can be priced according to time and products used.

Color-boosts (touch-ups) Are Necessary…

Although your makeup is permanent, it will fade over time. You will need color-boosts every so often. Color-boosts are only one session. Eyebrows will need a color-boost anywhere from 8 months-2 years. Eyeliner = anywhere from 1-10 years. Lips = anywhere from 1-5 years. Pricing for color-boosts are located in the prices section.

Brows will appear very dark and swollen immediately after your procedure…

Immediately after your tattoo procedure, your brows will appear very vivid, dark, swollen, and “chalk-like.” Brows will remain like this for about 5-7 days before they will peel, soften and significantly lighten. This can be hard for the client and family members to adapt to after the procedure. It is normal to go through all of the emotions during that first week following your procedure. However, it is important to remind yourself that the color and shape will keep changing every day over the next 4 weeks. You will not really know how your brows will look and/or heal until a minimum of 3 weeks after the procedure.

Please Prepare Before Your Procedure...

  • Any tweezing or waxing should be done at least 48 hours prior to the procedure; electrolysis no less than five days before. Do not resume any method of hair removal for at least two weeks.

  • Any eyelash or eyebrow tinting or eyelash curling should be done no less than 48 hours before, or two weeks after the procedure.

  • If you have eyelash extensions, please know that it is likely many extensions will naturally fall out during the procedure and a fill may be necessary sooner than expected. This is due to Lauren’s hand brushing over the eye area.

  • Please exfoliate the brow area well before arriving to your appointment.

  • Do not consume any vitamins, alcohol, recreational drugs, Aleve, Advil, Ibuprofen, or blood-thinning medications at least 48 hours before your procedure. No medication should be stopped without first talking with your prescribing doctor.

  • You may arrive in your normal makeup if so desired to showcase how you pencil or wear your own makeup. Lauren will most likely tweak or make suggestions to clients’ makeup during the consultation. If you would like Lauren to use her knowledge and expertise to draw on your eyebrows, eyeliner, or lip line on herself, she absolutely will! It is recommended to bring your lip color or brow pencils on the day of your procedure.

  • Please accommodate your social calendar around the healing process of this procedure. Brows will be very dark and swollen for up to a week before they start peeling and softening. After peeling, your brows will lose 30-50% of the color.

What will happen to my brows as time goes on?

How will they fade and shift with my face?

I get asked this question a lot: “What happens when my skin ages and gets wrinkly and I still have tattooed brows?” And I always say the same thing: “No matter how your skin ages, your eyebrows will fall naturally with the rest of your skin.” Your brows will NOT remain in the same place they are now as your skin ages and falls. If the client wants or needs to address “falling brows” int he future, a consultation with Dr. Collini at the Renaissance Center for Plastic Surgery can certainly be arranged.

It is important to remember, although Eyebrow Tattooing can certainly be your “everyday makeup look,” this procedure is not necessarily meant to “replace makeup.” Traditional eyebrow pencil and/or shadow can be used periodically or daily to enhance or exaggerate the existing tattooed eyebrow.

Blondes and Medium Brown Haired Clients will likely have their brows fade to a “reddish/pinkish/very light color.” Dark haired clients will likely have their brows fade to a “greyish, ashy color.” Once you see these shades coming through, that is an indication it is time for a color-boost. Depending on the client’s lifestyle and personal preference, they can proceed with several different options: 1.) Yearly to bi-yearly color-boosts, 2.) Letting them fade naturally, 3.) Keeping the outline and using makeup to enhance them, 4.) Deciding to get them removed with laser (which we also offer) because they have chosen to not keep up with the maintenance.

Dark Haired Clients that have been tattooed and color-boosted for 10+ years will likely always have the “grey/ashy color” on the surface of their brows. The skin is like a cup; it can only be filled so much before it overflows. Once brows have been saturated for 10+ years, there are not a lot of options left. In this case, 1.) brow pencil or shadow can be used to “warm up the brow color,” or 2.) laser tattoo removal can be done for several rounds in order to make more room for more pigment to be implanted.

Some clients would never dream of removing their tattooing brows and are comfortable just using a little bit of pencil or shadow over top of their tattooed brow for extra desired warmth. Other clients may attempt multiple color-boosts to warm up the color, but the ashy tones always seem to come back. Depending on how the client wants to proceed is totally up to their personal preference.

MICROBLADING VS. POWDER FILL

What is the difference?

Microblading is the art of drawing individual eyebrow and hair strokes on the brow, alluding to the appearance of extra natural eyebrow hairs. This technique is a great tool for those who already have a lot of eyebrow hairs, but need a few tweaks in certain places, or a higher arch, etc. A powder-fill brow is the art of tattooing pigment to look like a beautifully penciled in eyebrow. This will give more coverage than microblading. Each technique is great for certain clients. Depending on the client and her brows, Lauren usually recommends to combine both techniques for the most optimum results. Your options and what you are best suited for you will be discussed during the consultation.
