Permanent Eyeliner

If you are allergic or just have a hard time putting your eyeliner on, permanent eyeliner is the answer for you! Are you a mascara girl, but frustrated with how long it takes to apply mascara every morning? Do you attempt to put your eyeliner on and feel like you look like a racoon?! Do you have trouble seeing; or it seems you can’t put your makeup on like you used to? Fear no more! Tattooed eyeliner is your answer!

Permanent eyeliner creates a soft, black powdery line to enhance your eyes during your daily activities. The line is clean and classic, to enhance your already natural beauty. Eyeliner can last 1-5 years before needing a touch up. Eyeliner is available for upper and/or lower lids.

Two Visits With Eyeliner Procedures Are Crucial To Achieving Your Desired Results.

These visits must be 4-6 weeks apart. Healing takes place during the interim. Upfront price of $650.00 includes both sessions. While two sessions are included in the original price, additional sessions may be needed for optimum results. Usually, a third session is $95+, however, these sessions can be priced according to time and products used.

Will my eyes be protected during the procedure?

In the history of Lauren tattooing clients’ eyeliner, she has never “nicked” someone’s eye. With that being said, we can offer “corneal shields,” to clients who would either 1.) prefer to sit in the room in complete darkness (being unaware of what is happening while it’s happening - which can be preferred by some) during the procedure; or 2.) if they would like to make sure their eyes are completely covered from having any numbing cream, pigment or particles rub or enter their eyes.

Regardless of using the corneal shields or not, a special eye rinse is continually used during the procedure to help flush any creams, pigment or particles out of the eye. However, without the protection of the corneal shields, clients are still at a low risk for developing a corneal abrasion. Corneal abrasions are not permanent, nor will it affect the tattooed eyeliner. However, they are painful for 2-3 days thereafter and require Dr. Collini to write you a prescription. This is further discussed below.

what are my options to get my eyes numb before the procedure?

Clients can choose either method of numbing prior to their Eyeliner Tattooing Procedure: 1.) Cream Lidocaine or 2.) Epinephrine Needle Numbing by Dr. Collini (Cost = an additinal $100.00).

1.) Clients can choose to have a cream lidocaine placed on their eyelids prior to their appointment. This cream lidocaine will sit on the eyes for 30 minutes prior to beginning the tattooing. There is no extra charge for this service. Clients are about 75% comfortable with this type of numbing application and method. Although it is not completely painless, clients get through the uncomfortableness.

2.) Clients can choose to have Dr. Collini numb their eyes with an Epinephrine Needle Numbing. This is where just a few needles are inserted into the skin around the eye in order to fully numb the area. This allows for a completely painless tattoo procedure, after a few uncomfortable needles prior. Although this technique allows for an almost completely painless tattoo procedure, the needles can also create more swelling and bruising than if the cream lidocaine were used. This is additional charge of $100.00 with the Renaissance Center for Plastic Surgery, and this must also be coordinated with the staff downstairs. Please let staffing know if you are considering this option.

What is the healing process like?

Eyes will be swollen and a little tender immediately following the procedure. As numbing wears off, eyes may begin to feel a little tingly, but not painful. Activities and social engagements can resume as normal immediately following the procedure and throughout the following week. The next morning, eyes will be “sticky and swollen shut;” this is completely normal. You can splash a little water to release them, and as soon as you start walking around, the swelling will start to dissipate. After those initial 24 hours following the procedure, swelling will be almost completely gone, but it can last up to 3+ days. Some people will bruise more easily than others, but makeup can be used on the outskirts of the eye to cover this up. As long as there are no complications (very very rare), corneal abrasions, etc. all normal activities can resume as normal during the duration of the healing process.

What to Expect:

  • Client will decide which type of numbing procedure they would rather, as well as use of the corneal shields or not.

  • Client will either be brought back to a relaxing room with music and comfortable seating to numb for 30 minutes; or the client will be taken downstairs to the Renaissance Center to await Epinephrine Needle Numbing with Dr. Collini.

  • Client will then be brought back upstairs after numbing with Dr. Collini

  • Eyeliner is performed with a number 1 needle grouping (low noise with the tattoo machine) and a 5 needle shading hand-tool (no noise) to get ultimate results

  • For cream lidocaine clients, numbing ointment is reapplied in between passes to stay ahead of the pain

  • 6-12 passes are performed before complete

  • Tattooing takes about 45 minutes to an hour

Please Prepare Before Your Procedure...

  • Following the eyeliner procedures, as a safety precaution, we recommend that you have someone available to accompany you or drive you home. Eyes may become dilated after the use of lidocaine ointment.  Eyes will also be swollen post procedure. Clients have driven home after such procedures, but if someone is available, that is what we recommend.

    •  There is a small risk of corneal abrasion following the eyeliner tattoo appointment. We recommend having a family member or friend available for 24 hours after the procedure in case they need to inform us of your condition, as well as help you through the first 24-48 hours.

  • Do not wear contact lenses during or immediately following the eyeliner procedure. Remember to bring your glasses. You may resume wearing your contact lenses as soon as your eyes return to their pre-tattooed condition.

  • If you are using Latisse, you must stop at least 2 weeks before your eyeliner procedure.

  • Refrain from the use or ingestion of vitamins, alcohol, aspirin, aspirin-containing medications, Aleve, Advil, ibuprofen, or other blood-thinning medications for seven days before and two days after any procedure. No medication should ever be discontinued without first consulting your physician.

  • Please remove all makeup from eyes before your procedure. Arrive with a clean, fresh face before you procedure.

*Please remember when looking at photos below, many have been taken immediately after the procedure; therefore, they are swollen and dark, and still have to settle and heal. In addition, many clients have also gotten eyebrows and eyeliner touched up at the same time, so their brows are also swollen and dark. I don’t always see clients after they have healed, but I tried to provide as many healed photos as I could!
